CRINGE! Contestant Reads Lyrics On Her Phone, Blatantly Ignores Simon Cowell [VIDEO]
What would talent shows like The X Factor USA be without a few cringeworthy auditions? Take, for example, Yosselin Marquez, a singer who auditioned for the show in 2013.
Yosselin’s audition was awkward for a number of reasons, and the cringe factor was only increased by how confident she seemed about her talent. Check out the embarrassing performance in the video below.
‘X Factor’ Singer Reads Lyrics On Her Phone
Yosselin, who was 21 years old at the time of her audition, shared her excitement about meeting judge Paulina Rubio. “My big dream is to become super famous with my music,” the Denver-based model shared, saying she would be even better than Paulina.
“Do you think you can win this show?” judge Simon Cowell asked Yosselin when she stepped on the X Factor stage. She responded by asking him, “What’s your name?” The audience gasped, and Paulina pointed out that this was “not a good starter.”
“She’s absolutely nutty as a fruitcake,” Simon muttered to Demi Lovato. Things didn’t get any better once Yosselin started her audition. She actually took out her cell phone to look at the lyrics to Rihanna’s “Only Girl in the World” while she sang.
This would be a faux pas no matter what she sounded like, but it was made even worse thanks to Yosselin’s terrible singing voice. Eventually, Simon stopped the audition.
What Did The Judges Think Of Yosselin’s Audition?
“What were you doing with the telephone?” Simon Cowell asked Yosselin after she sang. When she said she was looking at the song’s lyrics, he asked, “Could you actually read them?”
Before the judges voted, Yosselin declared, “Denver wants me! Right?” The audience could be heard loudly disagreeing with her. Paulina Rubio told her, “We don’t feel you have the X factor.”
Yosselin objected that she did, but Simon interrupted her, saying, “You don’t have the X factor, and Denver hates you. It’s a no.” Needless to say, Yosselin did not make it through to the next round.
