It’s not often that we get to see Simon Cowell so scared that his eyes look like they’re about to pop out of his head. The Coven, one of the scariest dance groups to ever hit the Britain’s Got Talent stage left us all having nightmares. Check out their spooky performance below from the season 14 auditions.

Simon Cowell Was Terrified Of The Coven On ‘Britain’s Got Talent’

The act started with the lights going out in the theater, already leaving the judges scared. The curtain opened to reveal a girl wearing ghoulish makeup holding a lit torch. Other members of The Coven emerged from the back of the theater holding torches and wearing their ghostly white dresses. They each looked scarier than the next, whispering a chant as they walked onto the stage. When one of the girls got close to the judge’s desk, Simon looked shocked and put his fingers up in a cross-like motion. Music started playing and the crowd erupted in cheers as a graphic of flames flashed in the background behind them. And still, Simon was completely scared out of his mind with each and every movement of watching The Coven. Towards the end of the performance, another girl emerged with a torch, this time blowing fire out of her mouth.

It was completely unexpected just before another girl jumped off the stage and landed in front of the judges table. Scary is an understatement here. Even while the judges gave their critiques, the girls kept in character.

“Dancing on the show is one of the hardest categories to really stand out because we’ve seen it all before. This we have not seen before” David Walliams said. “Girls you put on a spectacle. The commitment from every single one of you and the intensity I loved it. It was powerful, it was strong and I want to see more” Alesha Dixon said. “The choreography was fantastic. I got goosebumps all over me” Amanda Holden said. “What I love about you lot is that you stay in character,” Simon said. “You see an act like this then you start talking normally afterward it kind of breaks the mood. Remain as ghouls. Remain mysterious.”

What’s Next For The Dance Group?

The Coven received for yes’s and will have a chance to appear in the Britain’s Got Talent live shows. They are set to premiere this fall after being postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. After their dynamite performance, the brains behind this spooky dance act spilled some details about their inspiration. Alicia and Michaela Brady came up with the horror film inspired routine that absolutely petrified everyone watching. “A lot of the process is getting the kids to get into character and channeling it beforehand and they’re amazing at doing that. If we asked them to just be themselves in a dance they would hate it!” the pair said in an interview.

“It’s one of those things where you work on it for a number of years and it pays off. We believe in performance value and want the audience to be intrigued by the show” Alicia said. The kids definitely deserve all of the credit for petrifying all of us with their dedication to the scary characters they were playing during their Britain’s Got Talent audition.
