WATCH Evelyn Lozada Tearfully Share Her Abuse Story, Refuting Chad Ochocinco’s ‘3 Second’ Altercation Version
Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada posted an emotional video after she felt her ex-husband Chad Ochocinco’s tweet downplayed the fact that she is a victim of domestic abuse. Watch the video below where she explains that Ochocinco abused her multiple times during their relationship.
Evelyn Lozada Says That Chad Ochocinco Abused Her Multiple Times
In July 2012, Lozada and Ochocinco were married after two years of dating. But just a month later, the former NFL player was arrested on charges of domestic battery which ultimately led to their divorce. Lozada suffered a gash on her head while Ochocinco avoided jail time. Recently on Twitter, a fan asked Ochocinco how he manages to stay positive even though the domestic violence charges virtually ended his NFL career. “I lost my temper for once in life for 3 seconds & it cost me a lifetimes worth of work. I got it all back plus some after getting a 2nd chance & NOTHING will ever get me out of that happy space again” he responded.
This struck a nerve with Lozada who felt like Ochocinco was glossing over the fact that he physically abused her. “For this man to sit up there and say that he lost his temper for 3 seconds is infuriating to me,” Lozada said in the video she posted on Instagram shortly after. “It’s messages like this, tweets or whatever the hell it was, that are triggers for me.” She went on to say “People read this on social media and are coming at me talking about ‘oh you made this man lose his job’ it’s like if you’re gonna speak the truth, I want you to speak the truth as to what the situation was.” Lozada mentioned that this altercation that led to Ochocinco being arrested was not the first time that it happened.
Evelyn Received Both Supportive Comments Along With Some Backlash
Evelyn went on to post Instagram stories featuring photos of the injuries she sustained during the night she was abused.
Former WWE superstar Eve Torres Gracie commented underneath the video saying “It’s not easy to speak your truth when the world wants to weaponize your truth against you. I’m proud of you. People love, admire, and support you.” Actor Paula Garces wrote “Keep your head up, love. May all the healing and blessings come to you & your familia love.” Over on Twitter, one Twitter user said “I love Evelyn Lozada but damn let Ocho live. You do not see Rihanna mentioning Chris every time.” Rihanna experienced domestic violence at the hands of then-boyfriend Chris Brown in 2009. She has since gone on to become an advocate for helping women out of abusive situations.
Evelyn said that she will continue to live her truth and has “always been honest about the situation.”
