Watch Dr. Rum, the First Rapper of ‘The Voice of Holland’

Dr. Rum was the first rapper to be in ‘The Voice of Holland’ during the blind auditions of season 5. He got the judges extremely hyped up when he performed his version of “Can’t Hold Us” by Macklemore ft Ryan Lewis on stage.Â

Dr. Rum automatically got the judges attention by starting his song with “Aint no party unless Rum is at the party now the voice is the party.” He then had the judges laughing when he spoke in Dutch to them saying, “Turn your chairs because this will be a party, which I really want to show you.”
He did not lie when he said this will be a party as five seconds into his performance, Ali B turned his chair around followed by Trijntje Oosterhuis, who both got out of their chair to dance together to the amazing rapping talent of Dr. Rum. Even though the other two judges did not turn their chairs, they can be seen laughing and dancing along.
Dr. Rum ended up choosing the first person to turn their chair for him, Ali B, as his coach for the season, but he lost in the battle rounds. Even though he was eliminated so soon, his audition continues to be popular as it currently has 26 million views on YouTube.

Who is Dr. Rum?

Dr. Rum’s real name is Jernaldo Thielman from St. Maarten. When he was three, he began developing a passion for music and performed in school shows, theater plays, and more. He won his first prize for singing at just five years old. Around the age of ten, he was put in charge of school assemblies, plays, and shows.
At the age of 15, he formed a music group with his older brother and a friend called D.R.C (Done Ready Crew), eventually, it was just Dr.Rum and his brother left in the group who then released their first mixtape ‘Cr’.
Where is He Now?
Following his mixtape release, he only dropped two songs on Soundcloud and hasn’t really continued singing since then, he still continues to have fans as he currently has a fan page on Instagram and so many people still watch his famous audition on YouTube. But he will always be known as the first rapper to set foot on the famous stage of ‘The Voice of Holland.’
