Remember that time a chicken played piano on America’s Got Talent? If you don’t, then you’re in for quite the treat. The act is Jokgu of the Flockstars, and it’s an audition that can’t be missed.
Jogku appeared on the show with her trainers in Season 12. When the trainers explained that Jokgu would be playing the keyboard, the judges could hardly believe their ears.
A Chicken Plays Piano On ‘AGT’
Jokgu’s trainers Shannon and Seiree explained before her audition that she’s “very intelligent.” However, it took a little coaxing to get her to do her thing, leading to boos from an impatient audience.
They changed their tune pretty quickly when Jokgu started pecking the keys with her beak and playing “America the Beautiful.” Howie Mandel was so inspired, he stood up and put his hand on his heart.
Jokgu received four “yes” votes from the judges to move on to the next round of the competition, as Simon Cowell called it “one of the most incredible things I’ve seen on one of these shows.”
Jokgu’s performance obviously went viral, and she became an overnight sensation. “Everywhere we go, people ask for pictures with her,” Jokgu’s trainers explained. She also got to sit in her own airline seat and stay at four-star hotels.
Jokgu’s Judge Cuts Routine Didn’t Go As Planned
Jokgu moved on to Judge Cuts, and introduced the audience to her sister, another piano-playing chicken named Aichan. The pair were supposed to play a piano duel, but things didn’t exactly go according to plan.
The chickens took a little too long to start playing, leading to awkward silence from the audience and red buzzers from all four judges. “This is breaking my heart right now,” Heidi Klum said.
“I feel bad. I’ve never buzzed a chicken in my life,” Simon added. “I just wanted it to end. Sorry.” Guest judge DJ Khaled, meanwhile, said he was “confused.” Because they received four buzzers, Jokgu and Aichan were automatically eliminated.
Sadly, Jokgu passed away in March of this year. She may not have made it far in the competition, but we’ll always remember that chicken that played piano.
