Let’s face it, we have heard the song “This Is A Man’s World” by James Brown on almost every talent competition show. But, we have never heard it the way Charly Luske performed it on The Voice of Holland in 2011 during his Blind Audition. Take a look at his season two performance below that literally had all four coaches turning their chairs at the same time.
Dutch Actor Charly Luske Got A Quick 4 Chair Turn On ‘The Voice of Holland’
Charly barely got through singing the first line of the song when all four coaches immediately hit their buttons and turned their chairs. It was clear by their facial expressions that they were blown away watching the entire performance. One judge even dramatically fell out of his chair midway through the song. His iconic audition has since gone viral with over 69 million views.
The coaches realized they already knew who Charly was due to his previous acting roles on television. He joined the Dutch boyband called Velvet early on in his career and they had a huge hit with the song “Weg van jou.” He found himself in a few popular boybands along with performing in a musical called “Boy Band.” So it’s pretty safe to say Charly was a big name coming onto The Voice Of Holland.
Ultimately, Charly chose to be on singer-songwriter duo Nick & Simon’s team. During The Battle Round, Charly went head to head with Tom Wesselink singing “For The First Time.”
He was later eliminated in the semi-finals after singing “Nobody’s Wife.” Iris Kroes was later declared the winner of the competition.
Where Is Charly Now?
After making his mark on The Voice of Holland, Charly continued his blossoming acting career. He went on to appear on the Dutch game show De Jongens tegen de Meisjes. He also had a role in the film K3 Bengeltjes. Charly next appeared on the reality show Beste Zangers. Charly then finished in the finals of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Though he has not posted a cover on YouTube in a year, fans were buzzing over his last video covering “Edge of Heaven.” In the comments, they begged him to post an updated cover of “This Is A Man’s World” after he smashed it on The Voice of Holland.
Charly now performs with singer and guitar player Danjil Tuhumena and singer and piano player Nick Bult. His 2016 single “Fly” is actually the title track for the Dutch movie Fataal. He recently began a tour to honor his idol, George Michael. “This concert is about the tempestuous life of the British pop singer, songwriter and producer and contains hits and beautiful songs of his Wham! and solo time” according to Charly’s website.
Would you have turned your chair as quickly as the coaches did during Charly’s The Voice of Holland audition?
