Sarah Ikumu Blew The Judges Away With Her Whitney Houston Cover
Immediately when the song started, Sarah proved her vocal prowess hitting each and every note. She showed off a huge vocal range and nailed the song. The judges and the audience gave her one of the longest standing ovations in ‘BGT’ history. Even before the judges could give their critiques, Simon Cowell very quickly hit the Golden Buzzer which made everyone so happy for Sarah. Her family ran onto the stage to give her hugs and show her how proud they were.
“I was in total disbelief!” she told Talent Recap exclusively after receiving the Golden Buzzer. “I remember my only prayer was that I could make it through the first round and that Simon would let me sing ‘And I Am Telling You’ and didn’t tell me to change the song!!”
“Receiving the golden buzzer is something I never even dreamed about, so in that moment I was in complete shock but also extremely excited and grateful” she continued on to tell us.

“Look, Sarah, I’ve heard this song a lot,” Simon said once the crowd settled down after the Golden Buzzer moment. “It started off really well, like yeah this girl is great then it was like you became possessed halfway through. It was quite incredible and for someone of your age to stand on this stage with all the nerves and all the pressure to not only nail the song, you made it your song.” Amanda Holden called the performance “mindblowing.” Alesha Dixon actually said that she didn’t press the Golden Buzzer because she wanted Simon to press it. “I want you to go far and I think that Simon can help you because you are a superstar,” she said.
