Lydian Nadhaswaram was just 13 years old when he competed on The World’s Best against talents from all over the globe. The pianist from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India seriously has talent, unlike anything you have ever seen before. Check out his super-fast piano playing skills in the video below.
Lydian Nadhaswaram Dominated The Competition On ‘The World’s Best’
Ever since a very young age, Lydian demonstrated a love for music which his father Varshan Sathish noticed. He taught him a few beats and songs from Indian movies that he learned to play on the drums. Lydian began playing a variety of percussion instruments when he was eight years old. He gained global attention for his drumming, and soon shifted gears to the piano, playing Mozart, Beethoven and Liszt.
For his unforgettable performance on The World’s Best, Lydian performed “Flight Of The Bumblebee” by composer Rimsky Korsakov, a song notoriously known for being difficult to play. He played the piece in three different speeds, 160 beats per minute, 280 beats per minute and 325 beats per minute. The judges RuPaul Charles, Drew Barrymore and Faith Hill were all completely blown away by how fast Lydian could play the piano. He received a score of 85 which propelled him into the next round.
He soared through the Battle Rounds and the Champion Rounds, even going head to head with America’s Got Talent singer Daneliya Tuleshova. At the finale, Lydian played two pianos at the same time with a medley of Beethoven’s “Fur Elise” and Chopin’s “Etude.” He received a standing ovation from the judges and the audience. He earned a score of 84, the highest of the night, and ultimately ended up winning the entire competition and $1 million.

In the meantime, Lydian continues to post videos on YouTube of his incredible musical talents. His most recent video shows him playing “Flight Of TheBumblebee” at 340 beats per minute. The caption says that this video was captured in Los Angeles even before Lydian played the song at 325 beats per minute on The World’s Best.
He also posted a video playing the guitar while his sister sings.
Lydian recently posted a cover of “Hotel California” by the Eagles over on Instagram. Is there anything he can’t do?
“I want to do an animation film and I also want to play Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata on the moon,” Lydian said in an interview about what he hopes for himself in the future.
