Reading Time: 2 minutes

Interested in auditioning for The Voice this year? There’s a cool new auditioning system in place, and it could be your best chance at being chosen to appear on the show.

As social distancing continues, the show has introduced virtual open calls, which allow artists to share their talent remotely. Instead of uploading a video whenever you want, however, you’ll need to set up a date and time.

How To Audition For ‘The Voice’ 2020

The Voice started virtual open call auditions last month, and recently added two extra dates — July 16 and 17. The first step to registering is to create an artist account. Once you’re logged in, select Virtual Open Call to select a date and time.

You’ll have one and a half minutes to audition once your time comes. Prepare a verse and chorus of a song, and be prepared to introduce yourself and share the song title on camera. According to the guidelines, you can sing a cappella, with an instrument, or with a backing track.

You should log in to your account before your audition time and watch the countdown, then click the blue button to start recording your audition. A member of the Voice Casting Team will review your audition, and you’ll receive an email with your results.

What Is The Show Looking For In An Audition?

The show’s website offers some tips for auditioning, such as wearing what you’d wear if you were to perform a blind audition on TV. You should also use a high quality recording device and get close enough to the mic for good audio.

Also make sure to minimize the sound around you so your voice shines through, and don’t worry about adding special effects or props. Audition in a well-lit space with the light in front of you, and make sure the room is tidy. It’s a good idea to test things before your audition time arrives to make sure it all sounds great.

Before you even think about auditioning, make sure you meet the eligibility requirements. Will you be at least 13 years old on August 14, 2020? If you’re under 18, you’ll need to have your parents fill out a consent form with your application. Check out other eligibility rules here.

If you decide to audition online this year, we wish you the best of luck. Maybe we’ll see you on next season of The Voice!
