‘The Voice UK’ Semi-Finals Were Off The Charts
The top 8 artists duked it out on The Voice UK, (vocally, of course), for one of the top four spots in the finale. It’s been a good season and I must say that I’m not surprised by who was chosen in the end. It was who we thought it would be from the start.
Jamie sang Justin Timberlake’s Say Something and it left me pretty cold. He’s an able singer but he needs more seasoning as he has a tendency to lose vocal control and sing flat.
Lucy from team Tom did her rendition of One Last Time by Ariana Grande. Here’s the thing about singing Ariana Grande: You better be sure you can sing Ariana Grande. I think Lucy might have been out of her depths.
Prince’s When Dove’s Cry is an incredible song by an incredible artist. Tai did a really good rendition but I don’t think it’s enough to save her.
Gayatri did Alive by Sia and it was…fine. But fine isn’t good enough. Again, Sia is a tremendous singer and you shouldn’t take her on unless you are sure you can keep up.
This duo may take the whole show, which is pretty unique because duos rarely get very far. But they did Skyfall by Adele and killed it.
I can’t pronounce Ruti’s last name if my life depended on it, but I’m fairly certain she’s going to win. Unless she totally chokes in the finale, she’s got it.
That is, unless Donel wins. I think it’s going to come down to him and Ruti. Just watch. I’m rarely wrong.
Now this is an example of taking on a hard song, Phil Collins’ In The Air Tonight, and utterly smashing it. Lauren is amazing and, though she may not win, I think she’s still got the stuff.
And guess what? The last four are going to the finale. Surprising? Nope. So, it’s Lauren Bannon, Donel Magena, Ruti Olajugbagbe, and Belle Voci.
