Janice Freeman, a member of Team Miley on Season 13 of The Voice, passed away from an apparent blood clot yesterday. The singer was 33 years old.

Janice made quite the impression on her season, turning both Miley and JHud’s chairs in her Blind Audition. After winning both her Battle and Knockout Rounds, Janice finished in 11th place.

Janice Freeman represented what The Voice is all about. She didn’t look like the traditional singer in the mainstream media, but she could SING! There was no doubt about that. And her coach Miley Cyrus took a liking to her. Even after the competition ended, Miley kept in contact with Janice. She later bought Janice her dream house! The two had a truly special connection.

But Janice was also dealing with numerous health issues. On The Voice, Janice talked about her struggle with cervical cancer, which she had beat. She also battles lupus and meningitis.

Her death appears to have been caused by pneumonia, leading to a blood clot that had traveled to her heart. Janice’s family told TMZ she was at home in West Covina with her husband, Dion, when she started complaining she couldn’t breathe. Dion called 911 and had to perform CPR on her until paramedics arrived. She was pronounced dead at a local hospital around 5:30 PM on Saturday, March 2nd.

The Voice family has responded with an outpouring of love as well. From her former coach, Miley Cyrus, to fellow contestants, Janice was loved by many. Here are some of their tributes to the late Janice Freeman, starting with Miley’s post of a rainbow.
