The Road To Motherhood Hasn’t Been So Easy For Romee
In May when she announced the pregnancy, Romee shared her story about her battle with PCOS, a hormonal disorder that may decrease fertility for women of child-bearing age. She posted on Instagram about how this pregnancy came as an absolute shock to her because of her PCOS. Her body was always in “fight or flight mode.” This was because as a Victoria’s Secret model, she followed a strict workout schedule, was always traveling and eating a restrictive diet. It took a toll on her body and made her stress out which in turn was not good given her disorder.
She also posted a tearful vlog on YouTube where she opened up about her difficulty trying to conceive. But she was filled with joy to announce her pregnancy with Laurens by her side.
She wrote on Instagram “2 years ago I got diagnosed with PCOS after not getting my period for 7 years. I was devastated because being a mom and starting a family with @laurensvleeuwen is my biggest dream. I was so scared that I would never be able to because I got told it was harder to get babies in a natural way.”
After doing research on natural healing for PCOS, she decided to do less high-intensity training and stop restricting herself from foods. This led to her getting her period back. She stressed the importance of taking breaks and being good to your body. She also offered some advice to others going through the same thing. “To the women trying to conceive, believe in yourself and be nice for yourself and your body and don’t let those thoughts get to you too much,” she wrote.
