Alesha Dixon is a multi-talented British celebrity. She has showcased her talents in the field of singing, songwriting, dancing, rapping, modeling, TV presenting, and fashion design.

Alesha Anjanette Dixon was born on October 7th 1978, in Welwyn Garden City, England to a Jamaican father, Melvin, and English mother, Beverly Harris. Alesha was 4, when her parents split up and her father moved away, creating a lot of family tension and, (in Alesha’s words), ‘dysfunctional’. At a young age she witnessed her mother suffer domestic violence from her partner, which she spoke about publicly in 2010. Alesha created a BBC featured documentary on the topic of domestic abuse called Don’t hit my mum, in which she shares her experience as a child. She’s said,
“When I think about that time, I don’t remember living in harmony, I don’t remember any fun times, I suppose because the negativity has clouded it. The negative times and the scary times have blocked anything that was good … I believe that every child has the right to grow up in an environment where they feel secure and fearless going into the world, and I didn’t really feel that”
Alesha starred in the BBC Documentary Don’t Touch My Mum about domestic violence from a child’s perspective.
Her career began in 1999 with the girl group Mis-Teeq, which released a number of albums and did a few tours as well. Her solo career began when she signed a three album deal with Polydor records. Her first solo debut album was called Fired Up. She won the dance show. Strictly Come Dancing, in 2007, with partner Matthew Cutler, a professional dancer.
Since then, Alesha has many albums and hit singles to her name. Dixon has often cited that Madonna is a great influence on her life and career. As a television presenter, she was seen at The MOBO Awards, The Brit Awards and Live from the Red Carpet Show at the 62nd British Academy Film Awards as well as numerous other prestigious award shows, talent hunts, and reality TV shows. In addition she has contributed to and supported many philanthropic causes.
In year 2012 Alesha left BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing to join Britain’s Got Talent season 6 judging panel and has remained on the panel to this day in its eleventh season.
