Nahit Yilmaz and Erhan Ozdogru definitely brought something we have never seen before to Turkey’s Got Talent. The pair are ice sculptors who literally made everyone patiently wait to see the final product during their audition. Do you think their ice sculpture was worth the wait?
Nahit Yilmaz and Erhan Ozdogru Brought Ice Sculpting To ‘Turkey’s Got Talent’
Nahit and Erhan’s act may have seemed pretty long but ice sculpting is very precise. It takes a lot of effort and mapping out exactly what parts of the ice need to be cut. The pair took turns cutting the ice as ambiguous spy music played in the background. The audience and the judges had mixed reactions as they watched the sculpture being created. Some people had blank expressions on their faces and others were amazed. When the camera panned on each of their faces, they seemed a little antsy. Patience was definitely an important attribute to have while watching this act.
In the end, the pair actually carved what looked to be a swan. The judges wanted to see more and voted the ice sculptors through to the next round. In the Live Shows, only Nahit appeared on stage. This time he stepped up his game and carved a giant motorcycle out of ice all by himself. He received a very high score but did not go on to win the competition.
Many people in the comments section seem to agree that Simon Cowell would have never been able to sit through this ice sculpting routine with patience. The entire audition with commentary from the judges was more than 11 minutes long. Usually, on America’s Got Talent, Simon tells people that they have two minutes to change their lives. “If Simon was there he wouldn’t be able to finish. Those judges sure have patience” one YouTube comment said. “Simon wouldn’t let him finish,” said another.
This ice sculpting audition was a bit unconventional but many people in the comments feel like the pair got special permission from the producers to have a longer audition. What did you think Simon’s reaction would be if he was watching Nahit and Erhan’s act?
Where Are They Now?
After competing on Turkey’s Got Talent, Nahit made a YouTube channel but has not posted any videos for the past four years. The videos that are on his channel feature both ice sculpting and 3D printing. Other than that truthfully it does not seem like the pair have taken their ice sculpting act to any larger stages. However, judging by the size of Nahit’s workshop in the few videos he posted, it definitely seems like this is his career.
Ice sculpting is certainly something that we rarely see on ‘Got Talent’ shows. But we would love to know if any ice sculptors out there would be brave enough to perform their routine in front of Simon on ‘AGT’ or ‘BGT.’
