Twitter Went Wild For Kelly Clarkson’s Medley Of Popular Songs At The BBMAs
Talent show legend Kelly Clarkson performed an amazing medley of popular songs at Wednesday’s Billboard Music Awards. The singer was hosting the show for the second year in a row, and has turned the opening mashup into a BBMAs tradition.
She started things off with a joke about a recent mishap at the ACM Awards, when she says someone mistook her for a seat filler. While hosting the BBMAs, Kelly was asked to give her seat up for Florida Georgia Line, so she sought to prove who she was by singing her heart out to the band’s song “Meant to Be.”
What Songs Did Kelly Clarkson Sing In Her Medley?
“Meant to Be” wasn’t the only hit song Kelly performed. She made her way down the aisle and held hands with Khalid while singing his track “Eastside.” She then bonded with Mylah over the song “Booed Up.”
Of course, she couldn’t do a medley of the past year’s hits without shouting out her fellow Voice coach Adam Levine, with Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You.” Other tracks Kelly sang included “The Middle” by Zedd, Maren Morris, and Grey; “One Kiss” by Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa; Cardi B’s “I Like It” (including the Spanish); “Tequila” by Dan + Shay; and “High Hopes” by Panic! At the Disco.
She even threw a little “Touch My Body” by Mariah Carey into the mix, in honor of Mariah receiving the Icon Award. There was also a hint of “Material Girl” by Madonna, who also performed at last night’s event.
What Did The Fans Think Of Kelly’s Performance?
Considering Kelly performed a different cover at each stop of her recent Meaning of Life tour, it’s no surprise that she totally nailed this medley of other artists’ songs. Fans on Twitter seemed to agree that the performance was a success. It’s also worth noting that the artists Kelly was covering clearly loved it as well.
While most people seemed to love the performance, there was one group of fans who would have liked one little change. Several members of the BTS fandom tweeted their wish that Kelly would perform one of the K-pop group’s songs.
As much as we would love to see an even longer medley from Kelly, she couldn’t cover everyone. But there’s always a chance she’ll host again next year and give BTS a shout-out. Kelly has covered songs in a variety of genres, and we’re sure she’d totally kill it.
