Season 14 of America’s Got Talent premiered Tuesday night, and the season’s first Golden Buzzer act had everyone talking. When 22-year-old Kodi Lee, who is blind and has autism, sat down at the piano and started singing, it brought judges and viewers alike to tears.
As soon as new judge Gabrielle Union hit the Golden Buzzer, it confirmed that this was the act the show had been teasing as the “most epic moment” ever on the show. New host Terry Crews predicted that it would go viral, and it looks like he was correct. Not only does AGT‘s YouTube video of Kodi’s audition already have over 3 million views, but people are tweeting their emotional reactions.

Kodi’s performance drew the attention of some pretty big names. Oprah Winfrey tweeted that she stood up and cheered in her living room when he performed. Actress and autism advocate Holly Robinson Peete tweeted that she was “speechless,” adding that “we need to change the world” for those with autism. Terry Crews and Gabrielle Union also followed up with touching messages of their own.

Kodi’s amazing performance also drew the attention of some organizations and individuals who support those with autism. Autism Speaks tweeted about Kodi’s “incredible talent,” while Unicorn Children’s Foundation pointed out that 1 in 6 children is diagnosed with a developmental or learning disorder, adding that Kodi “flourished.”
Fans At Home Were Crying
Viewers watching Kodi’s performance had to grab the tissues because they were crying so much. Many of them tweeted their emotional reactions, sharing how inspiring they found the performance. “God bless him and every one of them people involved in making this happen for him,” wrote one Twitter user.
