Despite the financial strains put on some people during the coronavirus pandemic, others have a new expensive obsession. The streetwear company Supreme released its highly anticipated collaboration with Oreos online today and the internet is freaking out. The new bright red cookies are currently being resold on eBay for crazy high prices.

People Are Paying Thousands For The Cookies On eBay

Yes, you read that right. One person sold a pack of the cookies on eBay to a bidder for $1250. It may seem like a high amount of money for a perishable food item, however, collectors and fans of the brand are willing to pay it. The Supreme Oreos originally retail for $3 with $10 shipping which is double the price of a normal pack of Oreos.

One pack was even posted on eBay for a price of $92,000 but was later removed from the site. The cookies were for sale back in February at the New York store and sold out almost instantly. People began to resell them online for much more than their retail value. The following screenshot from eBay depicts the cookies being sold for more than five times their retail price.

Twitter Users Questioned Why The Cookies Are Being Resold For So Much

One Twitter user joked that he spent three months’ rent on the Supreme Oreos.

Another user questioned why people are buying them now while there is so much going on financially in the world.

It seemed like everyone was wondering why the cookies cost so much and why people are so willing to buy them during a pandemic.

People are still ordering expensive things online while many countries and states remain in quarantine or on lockdown. It seems like Supreme is still doing pretty well with their online sales with the release of these cookies.

This Isn’t The First Time People Resold Supreme Products For High Prices

Back in 2016, Supreme started selling bricks with their logo on it. They, of course, sold out quickly as most Supreme merchandise does. They retailed for $30 each. People began to resell the bricks for hundreds and even thousands of dollars online. Some sellers were even asking for $1000 just for one brick! As you can imagine, the bricks were also talked about on social media and users questioned why anyone would want to buy a brick.

In the past, Supreme has also had major success selling items like hammers and calculators with their logo on it. One Twitter user even asked if someone was willing to sell a Supreme brick that he could then trade for a pack of the highly desirable Oreos.

How much would you be willing to pay for a pack of cookies from your favorite brand? Do you think the cookies are worth the hype? Let us know in the comments down below!
