Twitter has declared Simon Cowell “over” following reports that he’s being investigated after Gabrielle Union’s controversial firing from AGT. Fans of various artists Simon has represented are happy to see him potentially being held accountable.

Shortly after news broke that Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough wouldn’t be returning as judges, it was reported that they faced a “toxic” environment on the show. Gabrielle reportedly spoke up about a racially insensitive joke made by Jay Leno, as well as Simon Cowell’s habit of smoking indoors.

Simon Cowell At Center Of Gabrielle’s Meeting With NBC?

Earlier this week, Gabrielle Union met with NBC for five hours. Both she and the network called the meeting “productive.” Gabrielle tweeted that she shared her “unfiltered truth,” adding, “I led with transparency and my desire and hope for real change.”

“While there will be a further investigation to get a deeper understanding of the facts, we are working with Gabrielle to come to a positive resolution,” NBC said of the discussion. According to Deadline, that “further investigation” has to do with Simon Cowell.

“The ball is in NBC’s court to see if they can get Cowell to agree to make some changes to the way things are done on the show,” a source told the outlet. Apparently, much of Gabrielle’s meeting revolved around Simon.

Twitter Says Simon Is ‘Over’

Following reports that Simon was under scrutiny, Twitter users started the hashtag #simoncowellisoverparty to declare that Simon was, indeed, “over.” Many of them are fans of groups like One Direction, Little Mix, and Fifth Harmony, which were formed on Simon’s shows and managed by him.

However, former AGT judge Sharon Osbourne doesn’t think Simon will be hurt by this controversy. When asked her thoughts by Entertainment Tonight, she responded, “No, it’s his show. Simon can do what he wants … He’s earned the right to sit next to whoever he wants to sit next to.”

We’ll have to wait and see what happens. In the meantime, the new season of AGT: The Champions is coming up in January, with Heidi Klum and Alesha Dixon appearing as judges.
