Twin Brothers In Different Countries Meet At Border During Coronavirus

The coronavirus pandemic has forced people to get creative in how they interact with their loved ones. Two brothers in Europe recently gave social distancing a whole new meaning.
The brothers, who are identical twins, live in Norway and Sweden. Due to rules about crossing the border during the outbreak, the brothers chose to meet on opposite sides of the line for lunch.
Twin Brothers Meet At Border During Coronavirus Pandemic
The brothers, Ola and Pontus, are 71 years old and live in Norway and Sweden, respectively. Because of the pandemic, Norwegians who cross the border into Sweden must go into a two-week quarantine when they return. Law enforcement is reportedly stationed at the Svinesund Bridge joining the two countries.
A photo of the brothers shows them sitting on opposite sides of the line, several feet away from each other, bundled up and drinking out of thermoses. According to a Reddit translation of a Norwegian story, Ola and Pontus usually call each other daily and meet up once a week.

“As long as the border between Norway and Sweden is closed, we will continue to meet at the [border] bridge every Saturday at 11 AM,” Ola reportedly said, adding, “I would never have imagined that I would be told by the police that I could not hug my brother.”
