Angelica Hale suffered from sever double pneumonia as a child that led to a long hospitalization. Though she was experiencing kidney failure, her dream of becoming a singer was still a driving force in her life. After receiving a life-changing kidney transplant from her mother, Angelica came to ‘AGT’ to show everyone how talented she is.
Just nine years old at the time of her ‘AGT’ audition, Angelica just learned that she was going to be a big sister. She was excited and announced that she wanted to be the next Whitney Houston. For her audition, she sang Andra Day’s “Rise Up.” Angelica received a standing ovation from the judges after delivering powerful vocals that were heightened by her bubbly personality.
“Well this shouldn’t actually happen,” Simon Cowell said. “You’re tiny. Your voice is huge. I have a feeling you may be looking at a star in the future.” Heidi Klum said she believed Angelica would go on to be a superstar. When it came time for Mel B to give her critique, Angelica cheerfully said that she was her favorite judge. This prompted Simon to hilariously press his red buzzer as Mel B ran up to the stage to give Angelica a hug. “I predict that all of your dreams are going to come true young lady” Howie Mandel continued with the critiques. She was sent to the Judge Cuts round where guest judge Chris Hardwick was so impressed with her cover of Alicia Keys’ “Girl on Fire” that he pressed his Golden Buzzer.
She was sent straight into the live shows where she continued to dominate the competition with her tremendous singing talents. Angelica took the runner up title after losing out to winner Darci Lynne Farmer in 2017 after the pair had been going head to head during season 12 of ‘AGT.’ She is just one of the many runners up of the show that has gone on to do big things with her singing career. It really was a toss-up between the two and Angelica’s fans truly believed she would win the show. Her tear-filled second-place finish was devastating for her huge fan base. Angelica came back for redemption on America’s Got Talent: The Champions. Her performance of “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten impressed Howie so much that he pressed his Golden Buzzer. She became the first act ever to receive two Golden Buzzers in two different seasons of the show and once again made it to the finals. She lost out on the title again, but will always be a champion in the eyes of her fans.
Angelica has gone on to appear on Little Big Shots and The Today Show along with several other appearances. She is also a voice-over artist and actress for the film “American Reject” and the animated series “Maya Unstoppable.” Her new album “What’s It Like” just came out and it is a great representation of this young talent. You have to hear her latest amazing cover of “What About Us” by P!nk.
Angelica also just marked the seven-year milestone since the day she had her kidney transplant. She also just celebrated her 13th birthday.
