Blake can come across, you know, like a playful jerk but underneath that tough cowboy exterior, he’s got a little something going. Our favorite The Voice coach Blake Shelton helped make a young fan’s wish come true earlier this month. Colton Harkness, who suffers from cerebral palsy, was flown out to the show’s set by Kids Wish Network to meet the country star.
Colton, from Indiana, is apparently a fan of both Blake Shelton’s music and his show The Voice. So it’s extra special that he got to meet the star and watch a live taping of the show in Los Angeles.
According to a press release from Kids Wish Network, Colton and his family were chauffeured in a stretch limo and got VIP status on set, including seats close to the stage. Colton even got to meet contestants Rose Short and Jake Hoot!
Colton got to meet with Blake after the show, as well as John Legend and Gwen Stefani. He received a Voice T-shirt and gave Blake a Kids Wish Network hat. “Me and Blake are friends now!” Colton said.
But he didn’t just get to see The Voice. Colton also took his first trip to Disneyland during his visit to California. His family was put up in local hotels, and got to eat at nearby restaurants.
According to TMZ, Colton is 7 years old and hails from Indiana. He lives with cerebral palsy and gets around using a wheelchair. Colton apparently wants to be a police officer when he grows up, and he got a pretty awesome surprise before his family left for L.A.
The Indiana State Police, Orange County Sheriff’s Department, and Paoli Police Department reportedly visited Colton at school. He was made an honorary deputy in front of his classmates, and the Orange County Police Department announced that Colton would be going to California.
As Kids Wish Network Executive Director Tam Lai shared, “We appreciate Mr. Shelton taking the time to meet Colton, and hope he was equally inspired by his biggest fan.” Have you seen the cutest video ever of Blake meeting this young fan? You have to check it out!
