Tuesday night’s The Voice results show revealed the Top 8 artists in Season 17. The Top 10 performed on Monday night, but two artists had to go home. This week, the first seven artists to move on to the semifinals were decided by America’s vote.
The remaining three contestants were then put up for an Instant Save. They each performed a song, and then viewers had five minutes to vote for which artist they wanted to keep in the competition. Read on to find out who made it through to next week.
The following artists were announced as moving on to the Top 8 based on America’s votes on Monday night.
The coaches delivered a live performance of their updated “Baby It’s Cold Outside” cover. John played the piano while the pair performed in a festive living room on stage. People danced behind them as they sang.
The pop star performed her song “Wave” with Mike Sabath during the show. They were accompanied by backup dancers.
Shane Q, Joana Martinez, and Marybeth Byrd were in the bottom three after Monday night’s vote. They each performed a song, and America then had five minutes to vote for which artist they wanted to keep in the competition.
Shane performed “Killing Me Softly” for a last chance to be in the semifinals. Blake praised his song choice and said he was surprised to see Shane in the bottom. Kelly noted that he can sing a variety of genres.
Joana performed “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye. Blake told her she’s still on Team Blake in his mind, and reminded viewers that she’s only 16. Gwen said Joana’s “personality is coming out.”
Marybeth sang “You Are the Reason” by Calum Scott. John said she’s given some of her best performances of the competition this week, and he hoped America voted for her.
The Instant Save vote ultimately went to … Marybeth Byrd! That means Shane Q and Joana Martinez went home. This leaves Gwen Stefani with just one artist (Rose Short) on her team. Do you agree with The Voice results this week? Did your favorite artist make it through? Let us know in the comments.
