The Voice season 19, episode 2 is just hours away and everyone wants to know what the coaches are looking for this year. We have seen so many unique talents take the stage over the years and all of the coaches are eager to win. Check out what qualities each of the coaches are looking for in artists that join their teams this season.
‘The Voice’ Coaches Dish On What They Are Looking For On Their Teams
First up was John Legend who has won the show once with artist Maelyn Jarmon in season 16. “I’m always looking for artists that move me,” he said. “Every time we sit here in this moment we aren’t facing them, all we have is a chance to listen to their voices and the ones that move me, I turn around.”
Kelly Clarkson also got candid with what kind of artists she is looking for on this season of The Voice. “I feel like a broken record every time I say this for each season but I really do crave and love variety,” the talk show host said. “I like a lot of different styles of music. I love equal representation, I want that on my team. I want to hear a little bit of everything.” This was followed by a sneak preview of Kelly fighting with Blake as they both tried to get one contestant on their teams. Kelly said she would cry if the contestant chose Blake over her.
What Kind Of Artists Are Blake And Gwen Looking For On This Season Of ‘The Voice’?
Of course whenever a country artist comes to The Voice, all eyes are always on Blake to see if he will push his button. Is Blake solely looking for country artists this year? The longtime coach is looking for his eighth win.
“I’m just looking for that thing, you know?” Blake said. “That thing you can’t put your finger on. Is it country? Probably, but it could be anything. But I’m also looking for something a little bit different because the times that I have won this show it’s not been with a country singer so I’m always on the prowl for what else could be out there that might give me a chance.”
Blake’s girlfriend Gwen Stefani is taking a bit of a different approach with her team this year. “Team Gwen is really about personality, uniqueness and originality,” Gwen said. “I want a girl that’s young, that’s talented, that has a dream that I’ve already lived. I just feel like I have so much to offer you know, and it makes me so excited, I wish I could go back to me when I was that age and know everything I know now. That’s my opportunity to share everything that I learned along the journey.”
