Production on the CBS game show The Price Is Right has been halted, due to a personal tragedy for host Drew Carey. His ex-fiancée, Amie Harwick, was killed over the weekend.

According to TMZ, the show won’t be taping for the entire week, with shows being canceled on Tuesday and Wednesday. Audience members were apparently notified via email on Monday.

‘Price Is Right’ Halted Due To Tragedy

Dr. Amie Harwick, 38, was a sex therapist. Over the weekend, she was reportedly assaulted by an ex-boyfriend and fell from a third-story balcony. She was taken to a hospital and later died of her injuries.

The ex-boyfriend, Gareth Pursehouse, was reportedly arrested and booked for murder on Saturday afternoon. Harwick apparently had a restraining order against him, but it ran out two weeks ago.

According to the police (via LA Mag), “The investigation revealed possible evidence of a struggle in the upstairs as well as forced entry to the residence.”

Throughout her career, Harwick worked with victims of domestic abuse and sex trafficking and also worked to remove the shame attached to BDSM. A colleague, Dr. Hernando Chaves, told LA Mag she was “compassionate, supportive, and trusted.”

Drew Carey And Amie Harwick Were Engaged

Drew Carey and Amie Harwick started dating in 2017 and announced their engagement in 2018. However, they broke up less than a year later. Following news of her death, Carey released an emotional statement published by TMZ.

THE BIGGEST TALENT SHOW CONTROVERSY OF 2019 IS…

“Amie and I had a love that people are lucky to have once in a lifetime. She was a positive force in the world, a tireless and unapologetic champion for women, and passionate about her work as a therapist. I am overcome with grief. I would like to thank you in advance for giving myself and everyone who loved Amie privacy while we try to work through this tragic situation.”

Carey also tweeted a video of him and Harwick posing together in a Christmassy setting. “I hope you’re lucky enough to have someone in your life that loves as much as she did,” the host wrote.
