Shin Lim is arguably one of the best magicians that we have ever seen on America’s Got Talent. So much so that he not only won season 13 but went on to dominate the competition on America’s Got Talent: The Champions and bring home his second win. Let’s take a look at the legacy Shin has created for himself after appearing on the world’s biggest stage and what he has been up to since winning twice.
Shin Lim Won Over The Crowd On ‘America’s Got Talent’
When we were first introduced to Shin on America’s Got Talent, he just seemed like a normal guy. But when he started off his audition, it became very clear that he was a mind-bending magician that excelled in the art of close-up magic. His first trick involved then host Tyra Banks who signed her name on a playing card. He then made this card disappear, and even reappear as a tattoo on his body. Howie Mandell called it the best slight of hand magic he has ever seen. From then on, Shin continued to wow everybody in the audience along with everyone at home week after week, even working on his showmanship like Simon Cowell suggested.
It came as no surprise when he ended up winning the whole thing after blowing our minds and always finding a way to top his performances of the previous week.
After winning the show, Shin did not even take a breath before he was thrust into the spotlight again competing on America’s Got Talent: The Champions. Simon praised him for coming back right after winning the previous season to show off even more amazing tricks. The level of creativity and planning that he put into his acts deserves all the praise and hype and is a huge part of the reason why he is the first-ever two-time winner of the show.
What Is Shin Up To Today?
Shin brought his close-up magic act to Broadway last year for The Illusionists – Magic Of The Holidays. He also performed at the Mirage in Las Vegas, and planned on embarking on a North American tour. Shin made numerous guest appearances on talk shows, but perhaps his most iconic feat yet is becoming a quarantine magician. Since coronavirus has thrown a wrench into some of his plans, he has resorted to showing off his magic skills on Instagram and TikTok. He even taught his wife magic, and the pair would give any magic duo a run for their money. Check out this trick below where he literally makes money appear.
And we can’t forget this trippy card trick!
It’s pretty safe to say that the man does not need a stage to captivate people with his magic. He can literally just do it from home and still manage to blow all of our minds.
