The Kids’ Choice Awards Nominations Are Full Of Talent Show Favorites

America's Got Talent judgesJill O'Rourke | Talent Recap

The 2019 Kids’ Choice Awards nominations were announced by Nickelodeon this week. Quite a few of our favorite talent show hosts and judges were nominated. It’s nice to know that these series are still cool with kids these days.

The Kids’ Choice Awards have several categories devoted to reality shows, including two new categories for hosts and judges. Some of the talented artists who make up our favorite judging panels also have nominations for their music. Let’s take a look at the nods show by show. A full list of nominees can be found here.

America’s Got Talent

The NBC variety show was nominated for Favorite Reality Show, and former host Tyra Banks also got a nod in the Favorite TV Host category. Something interesting about these awards is that all four of the show’s judges (Simon Cowell, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel) were nominated together in the Favorite TV Judges category.

This differs from the recent National Television Awards in the UK, which nominated individual judges. The problem was that all of the nominated judges were men, leaving out ladies like Amanda Holden and Ayda Field. It’s nice to see that an award show aimed at kids chose to recognize the judging panel as a group.

The Voice

The Voice was nominated for Favorite Reality Show, and last season’s panel of coaches (Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton) were also nominated in the Favorite TV Judges category.

Coach Adam Levine also got his own nomination with his band Maroon 5 in the Favorite Music Group category. Their song “Girls Like You,” featuring Cardi B, was also nominated in the Favorite Collaboration category.

Meanwhile, the new Comeback Stage coach Bebe Rexha was nominated in that same category, for her song “Meant to Be” with Florida Georgia Line.

American Idol

The comeback version of the show was nominated for Favorite Reality Show, and the judging panel (Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie) got a nod as well. Ryan Seacrest was also nominated for Favorite TV Host.

Luke Bryan was the only judge to have his own nomination, with a nod in the Favorite Male Artist category.

The Four

The Four: Battle for Stardom received a nod in the Favorite TV Judges category for Sean “Diddy” Combs, DJ Khaled, and Meghan Trainor.

It’s also worth noting that DJ Khaled will be the host of the Kids’ Choice Awards this year. He’s also nominated for Favorite Male Artist and Favorite Collaboration for the song “No Brainer” featuring Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper, and Quavo. Who knew DJ Khaled was such a hit with the kids?

The World’s Best

It’s too soon for The World’s Best to be nominated in any of the reality show categories just yet, but we did want to shout out host James Corden. He was nominated for Best Male Voice from an Animated Movie for his role as the title bunny in Peter Rabbit.

If you’re a kid who’s a fan of these nominees, or if you have kids who love talent shows, you can vote for your favorites at or on Twitter. The show will air live on Nickelodeon Saturday, March 23 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Now raise your hand if you want to see Adam Levine get slimed!
