We’ve seen some impressive talent show auditions over the years, but one X-Factor Ukraine contestant was so good, the judges actually accused her of lip syncing.
Her name is Aida Nikolaychuk, and she appeared on the show in 2012. The judges couldn’t believe their ears as she performed, and they asked Aida to sing a cappella. What happened next will amaze you.
When Aida Nikolaychuk started singing, the Ukraine X-Factor judges were visibly surprised by her voice. “Are you kidding me? Is this some joke?” one of them asked another. They agreed that they both thought she was lip syncing to a recording.
The judges stopped Aida in the middle of her performance and asked her to sing the same song a cappella. She did just that, proving that her voice really does sound that good, and she wasn’t using a recording.
One of the judges told Aida he was “speechless.” He admitted he thought she was lip syncing to a recording or had a “digital effect” on her voice. “You have such a magical voice and you control it so well,” he said. “It sounds like a commercially produced CD.”
Aida received four “yes” votes from the judges, and she went on to win Season 3 of Ukraine’s X-Factor. In 2016, Aida participated in Ukraine’s National Final to choose the country’s entry in the Eurovision Song Contest. She performed “Inner Power.”
These days, she goes by AIDA, and posts vlogs and song covers on her YouTube channel. Recently, she released a single called “The Red Moon.” You can follow her on Instagram for updates, and to see her ride a motorbike.
Aida’s incredible X-Factor audition has also inspired several reaction videos on YouTube, including some from professional vocal coaches sharing their thoughts on her voice. One reactor said she has perfect pitch.
