The Judges Said WHAT??? WATCH ‘DWTS’ Halloween Week Recap

It was Halloween night on Dancing With the Stars, which meant dark dances, wacky characters, pranks, and team dances! Here’s what went down on Week 7 of the competition.
The night kicked off with an opening number that was different from a lot of the ones we’ve seen on the show before. It was more skit-based and seemed to have taken a lot more time to film portions in advance.
The Individual Dances On ‘DWTS’
Kel and Witney
Kel and Witney had a jive to “Time Warp” this week. What was cool about it was that it had its own theme and didn’t just copy the style of The Rocky Horror Show. Kel did a decent job with the moves – especially the difficult footwork – but the routine didn’t quite pack the punch it was trying to…though it did for Carrie Ann, who straight up said she was HORNY for him in that routine! That certainly was…a comment.
Carrie Ann: 9
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 27/30
James and Emma
James demonstrated great technique and elegance in his Viennese Waltz this week. The story was also wonderful and allowed benched pro Keo to be showcased for the most time he’s been so far this season. Unfortunately, all the judges noticed a mistake, so even though it was clear they were itching to put up the 10 paddles for this dance, that didn’t end up happening.
Carrie Ann: 9
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 27/30
Ally and Sasha
Ally was especially determined to do well this week since she was in the last episode’s bottom two and had to be saved by the judges. For Halloween night she channeled Harley Quinn for a tango to “Sweet but Psycho”. Despite some head placement issues and a small mistake due to hesitancy, she killed it out there once again.
Carrie Ann: 9
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 27/30
Hannah and Alan
In a throwback to her pageant days, Hannah dressed as a zombie beauty queen for her jazz to “Bad Girls” with Alan. She seemed a little stiff and didn’t really “feel” the dance, but she still did a pretty good job executing the choreography.
Carrie Ann: 8
Len: 9
Bruno: 8
Total: 25/30
Karamo and Jenna
Karamo danced a Paso Doble to “Survivor” (and joyfully freaked out upon learning he would be dancing to a Beyoncé song!). It turned out to be one of his better dances, but he had trouble with the shaping which is a very important aspect of the Paso Doble.
Carrie Ann: 9
Len: 8
Bruno: 8
Total: 25/30
Lauren and Gleb
Lauren and Gleb danced an Argentine Tango to “Whatever Lola Wants”. She did pretty well at embodying the character and her dancing was nice too. She slipped at one point, but tried to recover by incorporating it into the routine.
Carrie Ann: 9
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 27/30
Sean and Lindsay
Jive was never going to be Sean’s dance, but this routine to “Monster Mash” was ROUGH. His timing was off, his footwork was messy, and the performance never really came together. The judges noted all of this in their comments but commended him on his effort.
Carrie Ann: 6
Len: 6
Bruno: 6
Total: 18/30
Kate and Pasha
Kate and Pasha danced the rumba to “Wicked Game”. She had some nice hip action but her footwork and overall dancing weren’t quite as smooth as they should have been in this style. The judges still praised her on her hard work and Len also gave a shout-out to Pasha on raising the choreography bar for the other pros on the show. He didn’t come to play, folks!
Carrie Ann: 8
Len: 8
Bruno: 8
Total: 24/30
The Team Dance Challenge
For this round, the couples were randomly divided into two teams to dance a freestyle to another Halloween song! The scores they received as a group for their routines were then added to their individual totals.
Team Trick
Team Trick consisted of Hannah and Alan, Lauren and Gleb, James and Emma, and Ally and Sasha. Their dance to “Somebody’s Watching Me” was simultaneously fun and creepy. This team had the overall stronger dancers, so they were able to include complicated moves that the celebrities were able to hold their own with.
Carrie Ann: 9
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 27/30
Team Treat
Team Treat consisted of Sean and Lindsay, Karamo and Jenna, Kel and Witney, and Kate and Pasha. They went with an “It” theme for their dance to the song “Sweet Dreams” by Beyoncé (and yes, Karamo screamed again upon learning this). The routine was very creative, with a highlight being all four celebs dancing together without their pro partners – especially impressive considering how much this team was derided for having the weaker dancers in the week leading up to this episode.
Carrie Ann: 8
Len: 8
Bruno: 8
Total: 24/30
‘Dancing With The Stars’ Elimination
After the judges’s scores for the individual and team dances were combined with the east coast viewers’s votes, it was revealed that Kate and Pasha and Karamo and Jenna were this week’s bottom two couples.
Carrie Ann elected to save Karamo and Jenna, but both Bruno and Len voted to save Kate and Pasha. So Karamo and Jenna finished the competition in 8th place.
