The Judges Didn’t Know What To Expect When Jamie Walked In — What Happens Next Will Surprise You [VIDEO]

The X Factor UK judges didn’t seem to know what to expect when Jamie Archer walked on stage for his audition in 2009. However, the singer ended up wowing them with his rocking performance.

Jamie performed “Sex on Fire” by Kings of Leon, prompting one of the judges to call him “fearless.” Check out his audition below, and read on to find out what the judges had to say about it.

Jamie Archer Auditions For ‘X Factor’

Jamie was 33 years old when he auditioned for The X Factor. He said people referred to him as Jamie Afro, and shared that he’s been dreaming of a music career since childhood. When asked why it hasn’t happened for him, he said he’s not good with the business side of music.

When Jamie announced what song he would be singing for his audition, Simon Cowell looked skeptical. But when he started singing, the judge was clearly impressed by his rock ‘n’ roll voice and energetic stage presence.

At one point, Jamie turned the microphone on the audience, who sang along. Even Simon could be seen mouthing the words, prompting host Dermot O’Leary to declare, “Simon Cowell is singing along!”

What Did The Judges Think Of Jamie’s Performance?

Cheryl called Jamie a “natural born entertainer.” Dannii Minogue thanked him for auditioning, saying he clearly loves performing and calling it “brilliant.” Louis Walsh said the show hasn’t had many singers like him before.

Simon, meanwhile, called him “fearless,” adding that he knows “how to perform.” He said he got the audience “on your side within ten seconds.” Jamie got four “yes” votes from the judges to move on.

Jamie ended up finishing the competition in seventh place. He now refers to himself as “The Sex On Fire’ guy from @TheXFactor” in his Instagram bio. In 2018, he released a self-titled album, and earlier this year he put out an album of covers, featuring songs by Bon Jovi, U2, and Fleetwood Mac.
