The 10 Best Magic Acts In ‘America’s Got Talent’ History
A lot of magic acts have appeared on AGT over the years, and some have made it pretty far. Two magicians have even won the show, as recently as last season.
As Season 14 of AGT introduces us to a few more impressive magic acts, let’s look back at some of the best AGT magic acts in the show’s history. From card magic to mentalist tricks and quick changes, these talents have us scratching our heads — in the best way.
1. Shin Lim
Let’s start with last season’s winner. This cool card magician wowed the audience with his sleight of hand and suave stage persona. He was so popular, in fact, that he also went on to win the first season of AGT: The Champions earlier this year.
2. Mat Franco
Before Shin Lim, Mat Franco became the first magician in AGT history to win the $1 million prize in Season 9. Mat combined card magic with a charming personality and knack for storytelling to win over the judges and viewers.
3. The Clairvoyants
This mentalist duo came in second place in Season 11 of the show. With the help of her partner Thommy Ten, Amélie van Tass correctly guessed the presence of certain objects while blindfolded, boggling the judges’ minds. They returned for AGT: The Champions earlier this year.
4. Jon Dorenbos
This football-player-turned-magician came in third place in Season 11. His creative card magic combined with a down-to-earth personality and motivational style wowed audiences. He returned for AGT: The Champions earlier this year.
5. Piff the Magic Dragon
Who could forget this funny magic act from Season 10? Piff appeared in a dragon costume to combine magic with comedy, and even got some help from his adorable dog Mr. Piffles. He made it to the Top 10 and returned for AGT: The Champions.
6. Collins Key
This magician was only 16 years old when he auditioned for Season 8 of AGT. He brought an energetic personality to his close-up magic tricks. His audition involved sending a dollar bill into an unopened bag of chips. Collins finished the competition in fifth place.
7. David & Leeman
This duo made it to the Top 12 in Season 9 with their clever AGT magic act. Their audition involved pressing on Howie Mandel’s head to make him unable to read. Sadly, Leeman died by suicide in 2018, at age 33.
8. Derek Hughes
In Season 10, this AGT magic act made it to the Top 10 with his funny act. His audition actually involved pulling a chosen card out of his butt crack.
9. Oz Pearlman
This self-proclaimed “mentalist and mind reader” made it to third place in Season 10 of AGT. He left a day job on Wall Street to pursue magic. His audition involved reading the judges’ minds to guess numbers and memories.
10. David & Dania
This quick change duo made it to the Top 10 in the very first season of AGT, which puts them in the AGT magic history. They amazed the judges with their ability to change outfits in mere seconds on stage. While they were initially eliminated in the Semifinals, they returned for the Wild Card Show and made it to the finals.
