Terry Crews in The Little Mermaid? The casting isn’t official, but the AGT host thinks he would be the perfect actor to play King Triton in Disney’s upcoming live-action reboot of the classic animated film.
Last week, it was announced that actress Halle Bailey would be playing the mermaid Ariel in the upcoming film, to be directed by Rob Marshall. Melissa McCarthy is reportedly in talks to play the villain Ursula. And if Terry has his way, we might see him as Ariel’s overprotective dad.
Terry Crews As Triton?
On Saturday, Terry tweeted an image of himself with a cartoon merman tail and trident. “Ariel’s Dad!!!!” he wrote with a mermaid emoji, along with the hashtags #ArielsGotTerry and #AmericasGotTerry.
The actor and former NFL player certainly has the muscles for the role. A lot of his fans clearly agree that he would be an inspired choice, as his tweet currently has over 24,000 retweets and 105,000 likes.
Terry later added, “Good thing I skip leg day because mermen don’t have legs!” The suggested casting even inspired some pretty cool fan art, which Terry retweeted, writing, “LOVE THIS.”
Terry Crews’ Upcoming Projects
Even if Terry doesn’t end up getting the part of Triton, he has some other projects lined up that fans can look forward to. He stars in the upcoming thriller John Henry, which is reportedly a modern retelling of the classic folk story.
His show Brooklyn Nine-Nine was also recently renewed for a seventh season. In less official news, Terry also announced last week that White Chicks 2 is on the way. However, Marlon Wayans later shut that down, saying they don’t yet have a deal in place.
What do you think? Should Terry Crews be King Triton in the new Little Mermaid? If so, should he have a beard? These are the important questions.
