Team Miley’s Unlikely Rise To Power On ‘The Voice’
When Miley Cyrus began this year on The Voice she clearly said she was in it to win it and that she planned to take on the emperor himself, Blake Shelton, in a country music-off. She ended up in the beginning with an all-female team that was light on the country but was strong on the vocal power. Now, as we close in on the semifinals, we see that Miley could win it all.
Miley is a child of country music even though her own work has been squarely in the pop category. Her dad Billy Ray Cyrus was a huge country star in the 90’s and she grew up in Nashville. Lately she’s been trying to get back to her roots as you can see from Tuesday’s leopard-clad performance of Shania Twain’s Man, I Feel Like A Woman. As far as her team goes she has Ashland Craft as her country girl while most of the traditional country artists chose Blake. Still, country or not, she’s had some of the strongest singers on the show.
I think that it will ultimately come down to Chloe, Brooke, and Addison. Brooke is the only one on team Miley currently but remember that Chloe used to be on team Miley as was Addison. So, she knows how to pick them. While the final victory might go to Adam or Blake let’s not forget that Miley chose them first.
Let’s face it, a lot of people didn’t take Miley seriously at first. Maybe it’s because of her age? Perhaps it’s because female coaches have only won twice in the history of The Voice? I personally would like to see her prove everybody wrong.
