Taylor Swift Will Be On ‘The Voice’ Season 17 As A WHAT!?
Trae Patton/NBC A familiar face is coming back to The Voice! And no, we’re not talking about Gwen Stefani (though she is too). It’s season 7 mentor Taylor Swift! But this time, she’s got a new title.
So what will Taylor Swift’s role be on season 17 of The Voice? Here’s what we know so far.
Taylor Swift Will Be The Voice Season 17
Coaches John Legend and Blake Shelton start by talking about who the Mega Mentor could be. John and Blake both say they’re a “big star” and “one of the successful people in music.” Then out comes Taylor Swift herself! You’ve gotta love the star-studded announcement. Though it really doesn’t give us much to work off of, we’re excited to have her back.
Taylor will be returning to The Voice stage for the first time since season 7, when she was the Knockouts Adviser. The most memorable moment of that for me was when she gave Luke Wade performing advice, having him start “Rich Girl” leaning up against the Knockouts ring. It’s these little details that Taylor Swift does best. And they make all the difference in a performance!
What is a Mega Mentor/ The Voice Mentor?
While it isn’t clear exactly what a “Mega Mentor” is, we can assume it will be similar to a Knockouts Adviser. (But it’s possible The Voice doesn’t want to announce that the Live Cross Battles aren’t coming back this season quite yet. That would explain the title change!) We know that she works with all four coaches though, because she has photos with them. And why else would both Blake and John be in the promo for it? This will be her first time working with John Legend and Kelly Clarkson though and we are here for it!
But we’ll learn more about Taylor as the Mega Mentor when The Voice comes back for season 17! The season premiere is on Monday, September 23rd at 8/7c on NBC.
