Talentino’s Diary: Entry 3 – It’s Hard Out Here For A Puppet
Mel and I were cleaning up after a shoot the other day when we discovered Talentino’s diary. Luckily, he was out on a coffee run so we were quickly able to get a copy of some pages. Some might say that this is an invasion of privacy…those people need to calm down. He’s a puppet. We will regularly be posting excerpts from his diary on the site.
One of the things I love about The Four: Battle for Stardom is that they have hip hop as a featured style on the show. That’s unique to the genre. I’m pretty sure if someone started rapping on The Voice that they would need to give Blake Shelton CPR. I’ve always been a big fan of hip hop growing up on the mean streets of Sesame. I had a rap group in college called PWA (Puppets With Attitude). We had one song called Fluff the Pillow. It was like NWA’s F the Police but about flipping your pillow at night to get to the cool side. It was hardcore.
My mom is on my butt to get a better job. She says I get abused a lot here at Talent Recap and I’m only an intern that gets paid in lint and oven mitts. They’ve promised me I can start writing soon. I mean, I did go to Columbia’s journalism program. That makes me sound important. Mainly I wrote reviews of the cafeteria food for the school newspaper. That salsbury steak was no joke.
I’m psyched because AGT is on tomorrow night and I keep hoping another puppet act comes on TV. Representation is important and I want all the little finger puppets out there to know that one day they can grow up to be big like Kermit singing with American Idol winner Maddie Poppe or Darci Lynne and Petunia (sigh) winning AGT. To not have on puppets is just going to cost them ratings from Felty-Americans like myself.
