There are a lot of talent shows on TV, as well as a lot of dating shows. But sometimes, two worlds collide and people on talent shows start dating each other! Yes, this does happen relatively frequently, so we’re taking a look at some of the biggest love stories that have come out of ‘DWTS’, American Idol and X Factor
Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev, ‘DWTS’
While she was still engaged to fellow WWE star John Cena, Nikki Bella went on Dancing With the Stars Season 25. Her pro partner was none other than Artem Chigvintsev, who she started dating soon after breaking up with John. She now has a ring on her finger once again after the two got engaged in late 2019. Nikki may have been with John while competing on the show, but the advent of her relationship with Artem post-breakup had many fans coming out of the woodwork as closeted shippers of the two while they were dancing together!

Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson-Herjavec, ‘DWTS’
Dancing With the Stars is infamous for it’s oft-forced “showmances”, but sometimes romance does happen organically. One of the most surprising examples came during Season 20, when Shark Tank star Robert Herjavec started a relationship with his pro dance partner, Kym Johnson. (The show’s producers often try to romantically match-make when putting pairs together, but we don’t think they ever expected these two to become a couple!) Robert and Kym went on to get married in 2016, and become parents to twins in 2018.
Maddie Poppe and Caleb Lee Hutchinson, ‘American Idol’
Maddie Poppe and Caleb Lee Hutchinson both appeared on American Idol Season 16, the first “revival” season after the change in networks from FOX to ABC. Both had successful auditions for the judges and were placed in the same Hollywood Week group. From there, their romance grew, but it wasn’t until the season finale that they opened up to the world about being a couple. Later that evening, Maddie won the competition and Caleb placed second.
Gabby Barrett and Cade Foehner, ‘American Idol’
Gabby Barrett and Cade Foehner also met and got together during American Idol Season 16. But while Maddie and Caleb beat both of them in the competition (Gabby and Cade finished in third and fourth, respectively) these two are ahead of them in an even bigger respect: they’ve since tied the knot!

Nicole Scherzinger and Thom Evans, ‘X Factor’
Contestants on a TV show dating each other is one thing; a contestant dating a JUDGE is another matter entirely! But that’s exactly what happened when X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger started dating rugby player Thom Evans after they met while he was on the Celebrity edition of the program. Some fans didn’t find it fair that they were potentially starting a relationship while he was still competing on the show, but his group Try Star was eliminated in the semi-finals and soon after that the duo officially announced their relationship.
