The Masked Singer winner T-Pain (aka the Monster) hosted the iHeartRadio Music Awards on Thursday night. If you were hoping he would bring his persona from the show back for another performance, we’ve got some good news for you.

Toward the start of the show, T-Pain mentioned his win and jokingly asked for a photo of his costume to be taken down: “Let’s go ahead and take that down before I have PTSD or something.” After all, he recently told Ellen that the costume was very hot.

But that didn’t stop him from donning it once again to perform “Blame It” with none other than Jamie Foxx. It was appropriate not only because the pair collaborated on the song back in 2008, but also because some people guessed that the Monster on The Masked Singer could actually be Jamie!

T-Pain’s hosting gig marks a big moment in his career resurgence since appearing on The Masked Singer. Many viewers were surprised that he had such a great voice, since he’s known for his use of auto-tune.

In fact, T-Pain recently told the New York Daily News that the show was his
“F–k you, everybody (moment).” He added, “I have people that just been doubting me my whole career and things like that because I’ve put some different aesthetic on my vocals than everybody else. It just turned out to be a great opportunity to really show another side of me, and kind of gave me a second coming.”

However, he hasn’t given up his old friend auto-tune completely. He even included it in his opening monologue. Fans on Twitter seemed divided over it, with some finding it entertaining and others wishing he would just stick to his real voice.

We’ll see how that goes, but until then, is it too much to ask that T-Pain perform at least one song as the Monster during every public appearance?
