In the video, T-Pain says “nobody wants to beat Gladys Knight” but he confesses that he is “super proud of himself.” Winning The Masked Singer has been a huge career boost for the artist. He not only dropped a new album since his big win, but he was also just announced as the host of the iHeartRadio Music Awards! He will also be doing a tour later this year.
T-Pain goes on to talk about how “legendary” it was to be in the Finale with Gladys Knight and Donny Osmond. It was a “big moment” for him! He says the show took out a lot of what he and the judges talked about at the end, but that it was “emotional” and “everybody cried.”
In the post-show video, he reiterates his feelings about the show and his win.
In both interviews, T-Pain talks about his choice of the Monstercostume. He says it was “not great” singing and dancing in the costume because he couldn’t see or move around well. No one could see what he was actually doing inside the costume! Because it was just a cylinder over him, it was really restrictive for the singer.
But all in all, T-Pain said “it felt good to get that recognition.” And beating Gladys Knight in a singing competition is quite the accomplishment! The Masked Singer will return for Season 2, but no date has been announced for its premiere yet.
