‘Survivor’ Fans Argue Over Sandra Diaz-Twine Being Quitter Or Queen

Is Survivor Contestant Sandra A Quitter Or A QueenSamantha Agate | Talent Recap

In last week’s shocking episode of Survivor: Winners at War, contestant Sandra Diaz-Twine announced that she would be leaving the show. A two-time Survivor winner, Sandra was certainly a fan favorite for many people and has a huge fan base online. She was sent home during a shocking blindside at tribal council during episode five and was sent to The Edge of Extinction for a chance to get back into the game. Once there she decided to leave. This begs the question; Is Sandra a quitter or is she still a queen?

Twitter Is Split In Debating Whether Or Not Sandra Still Deserves Her Queen Title

After winning Survivor: Pearl Islands and Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, Sandra proclaimed herself as the “Queen of Survivor.” She is the first contestant to ever win Survivor twice. While some fans continue to support Queen Sandra, others think she is just a flat out quitter.

Twitter user @AmanAdwin said that Sandra did not quit and that the only reason that there will be another two-time winner is that this season only features contestants that have won. He emphasizes how hard it is to win the game once, let alone twice. Therefore, he concludes that Sandra is still a queen.

Twitter user @KevinRobMartin stated that he felt Sandra did not quit because she knew she didn’t have a chance in a physical challenge. Sandra sat out of almost all of the physical challenges this season whenever her tribe had an extra member and somebody needed to sit out. All of the challenges on the Edge of Extinction so far have also been very brutal and physical so it makes sense as to why Sandra would not want to partake in them.

This lead Twitter user @azbimseezit to counter his statement and say that Sandra quit. She referenced fellow contestant Ethan Zohn who pushes himself on The Edge of Extinction and doesn’t give up. Ethan is a cancer survivor and fears that he is putting his health at risk yet has still remained in the game. She believed that Sandra having the mentality that she couldn’t win means she should be dethroned as the queen and considered a quitter.

Twitter user @Josie877 said that she does not understand people who think that Sandra did not quit. In her eyes, Sandra taking herself out of the game means that she quit.

Former Survivor contestant Russel Hantz even posted a YouTube video talking about Sandra and how he thinks she should absolutely be considered a quitter. The two played together on Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains where Sandra made it very clear that she was against him.

Russel insists that on the Heroes vs. Villains season when host Jeff Probst asked who would quit if they were given $50,000 and movie tickets, Sandra raised her hand. He claims that he knew she was a quitter a long time ago. Russell made it very clear that he never condones quitting and feels like Sandra should not be allowed on future seasons.

Sandra Spoke Out About Her Decision To Leave The Game

In her exit interview for the season, Sandra said she doesn’t care if people call her a quitter. Based on her strengths and weaknesses, she knew that she would not be able to beat out any of the contestants on The Edge Of Extinction to get back into the game.

“I’m not sitting here for 23 days to suffer”, she said as she then went on to reference her time playing Survivor: Island Of The Idols where she served as a mentor to the contestants. That season literally just wrapped right before she went on to play this season in Fiji. When she left The Edge Of Extinction she said she was “happy to go into retirement and know that I did the best I could with what I had.” She also said that she “will always stay the queen.”

Do you think Sandra is a quitter or do you think she still gets to wear the queen crown? And do you think she is really done playing the game of Survivor?
