‘Star Wars’s BB-8 Auditions For ‘American Idol’ Because Disney
One of the most anticipated movies of the year is Star Wars: The Last Jedi which hits theaters December 15th. I already have my tickets for opening day, of course. Now is the time when we are going to be bombarded by the media blitz that Disney and Lucasfilm have planned. Naturally, Disney, (who owns Lucasfilm), would do a little cross-promotional synergy for their new show American Idol.
In this ad…er…audition video, everyone’s favorite spherical droid, BB-8, rolls into the audition room in front of judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie while escaping some stormtroopers. He charms the judges with his bleeps and bloops and gets a golden ticket. But he doesn’t have time for all of that because he has to face the galaxy.
But the Earth isn’t part of the Star Wars universe, you say? That’s where you are wrong. In the much maligned, (but still canon), prequels you can clearly see the E.T. race of aliens in the senate. That means that E.T. visiting Earth connects the two universes. I really need to get a life.
