His annoyance translated into a bad attitude when he walked in to perform. When Simon asked why he was there, he replied, "I'm here auditioning for American Idol. Should be fairly obvious." He then said Simon's questions weren't interesting, prompting the judge to call him a "smartass." When he said he didn't like waiting, she went off on him, saying he had a "bad attitude," and adding, "I am now angry at you, who I don't like at all." She later said he needed a spanking.
