Singing Attorney Holds The Record For Quickest Red Buzzer In ‘AGT’ History — What Happened To Anthony Penoso?

Anthony Penoso, a 58-year-old attorney from Jacksonville, Florida tried to establish a new singing career path on ‘AGT.’ Unfortunately, his song about being married to a much younger woman during his season 12 audition got him four red buzzers in record timing. Check out his audition below.

Anthony Penoso Performed Weird Original Song On ‘AGT’

Simon Cowell came straight out of the gate to ask Anthony why he decided to audition for ‘AGT’ since attorneys are usually wealthy. Anthony said that once he started practicing law, he had to put his passion for music on the back burner. When he met his wife, Alina, he realized that all of the songs he had written were love songs. “I knew I was in love with my wife before I met her” he went on to say which had the audience laughing.

Alina encouraged him to pursue music and put it at the forefront of his life. The pair had been married for 10 years at the time of his ‘AGT’ audition in 2017. For his big ‘AGT’ audition, Anthony performed his own original song called “Young Enough.” The song is about how his wife is 25 years young than him. She came out to join him on the stage and gave him a kiss on the cheek to prepare him for the performance.

He Got Four Red Buzzers In Record Time

Anthony barely sang the first line of the song before his dreams were crushed by the ‘AGT’ judging panel. It was a domino effect of red buzzers. Howie Mandel was the first to hit his red buzzer followed by Mel B, Heidi Klum and Simon just seconds later. This shut down Anthony’s act which was a major disappointment for him.

Heidi Klum actually said she thinks Anthony holds the record for the quickest red buzzers in ‘AGT’ history. Simon agreed and said they might have been abrupt. He asked him to perform a second song which was another off-key original song. The judges realized they could not buzz Anthony because they already gave him their buzzers, so they were forced to listen. The audience booed his performance and the judges tried to figure out how to get Anthony to stop singing. Finally, he stopped singing and was obviously not chosen to move on to the next round of the competition.

Where Is Anthony Penoso Now?

Anthony’s Instagram is currently private, but according to his bio, he and Alina are still happily married. After going viral on ‘AGT’ for all the wrong reasons, he did not let the experience stop him from pursuing his music passion. His album called International Affair is currently available on iTunes. His original songs are also available on YouTube.

Anthony is also still practicing law in Florida so it is clear he hasn’t given up his day job just yet for music.
