Singer Delivers Emotional Tribute To Her Dying Father On ‘America’s Got Talent’ — Where Is Evie Clair Now?
NBC Evie Clair made quite the name for herself on season 12 of America’s Got Talent in one of the most tearful and heartfelt auditions the show has ever seen. Watch her incredible audition below and try not to cry.
Evie Clair Had A Memorable ‘America’s Got Talent’ Audition Full Of Tears
Evie was just 13 years old when she auditioned for the show and held back tears when Simon Cowell asked her why she was auditioning. “About a year ago, my dad was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer and they gave him a 5% chance to live and he still continued working and supporting our family. So tonight I’m here to sing for him” she said through tears. Her father, Amos, was backstage watching his daughter and also began to cry. Evie chose to sing the song “Arms” by Christina Perri. “When my dad is having rough days then I go into his room and sing this song to help him feel better and just to give him comfort and strength to continue fighting,” she said as her reasoning for choosing the emotional ballad.

“Evie you’ve been really unbelievably brave what you’ve told us tonight. Now I want you just to settle yourself for a little while” Simon told her before she began singing. After a breather, Simon went on to say “Now, this is the time I want to hear the best vocal you’ve ever done.” Wow Simon, no pressure. But Simon was smiling through the entire performance.
Evie Made It Into The Next Round After A Memorable ‘AGT’ Audition
Evie received a standing ovation from the audience and the judges and it was no surprise that she made it into the next round. She soared through judge cuts and made it all the way to the quarter-finals before she was at risk of going home. Evie won the Dunkin’ Save after receiving the most fan votes out of all three acts in jeopardy of being eliminated. She really gathered a huge following of fans and supporters that were moved by her touching story. In the semi-finals, she received yet another Dunkin’ Save, making her the only act in America’s Got Talent history to receive the honor twice. Evie advanced on to the finals and the same day, her father had passed away. It was an extremely emotional episode and the producers and judges offered her to leave the competition to be with her family and come back next year.

But Evie persisted on, making it just before the top five before she was eliminated. Her brevity and sweet tributes to her father will always be remembered as some of the most emotional and genuine performances to ever hit the America’s Got Talent stage.

Evie has continued to put out solo music and honor her father’s legacy on social media to her 146,000 Instagram followers. On May 23, 2018, she announced her plans to release a solo album, and on the album was officially released on June 1, 2018. All songs are performed exclusively by Evie Clair except for the song Okay Day which features Kirra L.A.
