Simon Stopped These Soldiers Mid-Song On ‘BGT’ … WATCH What Happens Next

Simon Cowell has a habit of stopping singers mid-song on BGT and AGT. It can be frustrating, but it usually pays off in the end, as the performers improve on their second try.
That was the case with Soldiers of Swing, a singing duo who auditioned for BGT this season. Simon wasted no time giving them negative feedback, but they ended up impressing him.
Simon Stops ‘BGT’ Soldiers Mid-Audition
This singing duo introduced themselves as the Soldiers of Swing. The act consists of Vince and Lee, who struck up a friendship when they were serving in the Army Reserve.
They’ve been singing together for about 14 months, but haven’t made a living from it. They said before their audition that they’d love to perform for royalty, joking that the Queen has been “our boss for years” and adding, “I want my raise!”

They started their audition singing “That’s Amore” by Dean Martin. Part of the way through, Simon put up his hand to stop the song. He questioned their song choice. Even Alesha Dixon said she thought they were “winding us up.”
The BGT judges asked to hear the duo’s second song. They went on to sing “Luck Be a Lady.” The audience clearly enjoyed the performance, clapping along and cheering for them when the song was over.
What Did The Judges Think Of Soldiers Of Swing?
After their second song, Alesha apologized, saying they proved her wrong. She added that this style of music is “definitely the way to go” for them. Simon said it was “so much better” than their first song.

Simon added their friendship is what really makes them special. David Walliams and Amanda Holden agreed. “I think we’re really gonna remember you,” David told them.
“I would like you even more if you were in your uniform,” Amanda told them. “The charm of you is the fact that this is not a polished act by any means.” She said they had a lot of potential.
The soldiers received four “yes” votes from the BGT judges to move on. We can’t wait to see if they come back to the stage in their uniforms like Amanda suggested.
