Simon Cowell’s Ex-Girlfriend Talks About Why His Accident Was ‘Very Scary’
NBC Simon Cowell broke his back in an accident in August, and he’s been absent from America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent ever since. Although he’s reportedly recovering well, the incident was pretty serious.
Simon’s ex-girlfriend Sinitta, who has appeared on The X Factor, recently shared details of Simon’s accident, and how the music mogul is handling it. Read on to find out what the singer had to say about the situation.
Sinitta Talks About Simon Cowell’s Accident
Simon Cowell broke his back after falling off a new electric bike at his Malibu home back in August. He underwent surgery to place a metal rod in his back.
“It was a serious accident,” Sinitta told Entertainment Daily. “So for people who love him, like me, it was very, very scary. It was very scary to hear it happen and also him being so far away and because of lockdown not being able to jump on a plane and go and see him, it was very hard.”

Simon and Sinitta met in the 1980s, when Simon signed the singer to his record label. They had an on-and-off relationship, and have remained friends. Sinitta is even the godmother of Simon’s son Eric.
Sinitta said Simon is “healing” now, but he was worried he might not walk again after the accident. “He’s taken some steps, so he has reassured himself that he’s not paralysed,” she said. “But he’s got to take his time and get well.”
Simon Wants To Get Back To Work
Simon is now home recovering from his surgery, and has missed out on appearing in the live shows of Got Talent. The mogul is apparently eager to get back to work, but the accident may have been more serious than we thought.

Although sources previously said Simon was healing well and might even return to his shows soon, other reports say the injuries are “much more dramatic” than it seemed. He’s apparently been using a walker to get around at home.
However, Simon’s loved ones are struggling to make him rest. “We’re trying to keep him still,” Sinitta said. “We’re trying to keep him more focused on being well than entertaining the nation which is difficult because he’s a workaholic.”
