Simon Cowell vs. Billie Eilish: Uses ‘AGT’ Buzzer AGAIN For Billie Eilish Song “Bad Guy”

Last season, Simon panned not one, but two acts that performed to Billie’s music. Let’s take a look at the evidence, as well as one time he actually praised a performance of her song.
Simon Cowell Buzzes Billie Eilish Song On ‘AGT: The Champions’
During Monday night’s new episode of AGT: The Champions, Romania’s Got Talent winner Emil Rengle performed a dance routine in high heels. It was set to Billie Eilish’s hit song “Bad Guy.”

“I just don’t think that was the caliber to be the best of the best,” Simon told Emil after his performance. He didn’t mention the song choice, but it’s hard not to notice the Billie Eilish connection after last year.
During a single episode in Season 14 of AGT, Simon slammed two acts that used Billie Eilish songs — contortionist Marina Mazepa and dance group Light Balance Kids. (He even buzzed Marina’s performance.) In both cases, he said didn’t like the music.
Howie Mandel Is A Huge Billie Eilish Fan
Fellow judge Howie Mandel, however, is a huge Billie Eilish fan. “How can you not like the Billie Eilish song, Simon?” he asked the British music mogul after Light Balance’s act. Howie has even been spotted at one of Billie’s concerts.

That’s why it’s interesting that Howie also buzzed Emil Rengle’s act on Monday night. “I don’t know if this speaks to the level of talent in this competition,” he said. So maybe Emil’s act simply wasn’t up to par, and the music was irrelevant.
Still, the coincidence is enough to make you wonder if maybe Simon has a personal reason for not liking Billie’s songs. Is he bitter that he didn’t get to manage her successful career? (She just won five Grammys, including Album of the Year.)
One Time Simon Praised Billie’s Music
On The X Factor: Celebrity last year, girl group V5 (made up of five social media influencers) performed Billie’s “Bad Guy” and DJ Snake’s “Taki Taki.” This time, Simon had positive things to say about their performance.
“I would really hope that the audience at home sees the potential here,” he said, calling it a “really special first live performance.”
Maybe Simon doesn’t have as much of a problem with Billie’s music when she’s not the one singing it. Or maybe he was just excited at the idea of a new girl group to manage. We may never know.

Billie Eilish made Grammy history as the first woman, and second artist ever, to win the top four categories in the same year: album of the year (for When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?), record of the year, song of the year (both for “Bad Guy”) and best new artist. She also went home with the best pop vocal album trophy but Simon isn’t really a fan of her music from the looks of it!
