Kameron Ross is the latest act to appear on America’s Got Talent’s leaked auditions, performing a country classic.

The openly gay singer spoke on a troubling childhood, navigating his way through life where religious values in his home state stood in the way of his true self. Despite his hardships, the Texas-born singer recently developed the courage to audition for America’s Got Talent.
“Now I know who I wanna be and I’m absolutely ready to work back towards music,” he said before auditioning.

Kameron Ross chose ‘Red Brick Road’ to perform for the judges. “It’s a song I grew up listening to. My grandma would actually tell me it was written about her,” he told the judges.
“So growing up, I believed this song was written about her until she kinda broke the news.”

Shortly after Kameron began to sing, Cowell stopped the act, urging Ross to sing acapella. “I’d like you to do something for us. I want you to sing acapella and I want you to prove the point you’ve been wanting to prove,” Simon told Kameron.
The auditionee stunned the judges with a more relaxed rendition of the song, focusing on his vocals rather than the odd pace of the backing track. It is unknown if Ross will make it to the next round.
Who is Kameron Ross?
Ross told the judges before he performed that he’s currently working in sales at a tech company. The country singer is also happily in a relationship with Netflix star, Lio Botello. Both of them now live in Dallas, Texas.
