Simon Cowell Stops 10-Year-Old Indian Girl Midway Through Her Performance — What She Does Next Will Blow Your Mind [VIDEO]
You might want to grab a sweater before listening to Souparnika Nair’s BGT audition, because it’s likely to give you goosebumps. At just 10 years old, Souparnika commanded the stage and wowed the judges.
Of course, her audition wasn’t without a few complications from judge Simon Cowell, who stopped her midway through her performance. She handled it like a pro, however, and earned a standing ovation.
10-Year-Old Indian Girl Simon Cowell Stops
Souparnika said it was “overwhelming” to finally be on BGT, calling it “the biggest thing I’ve ever done in my life.” She announced to the judges that she would be singing “Trolley Song” by Judy Garland, telling David Walliams she would love to perform on the West End.
The audience seemed to be enjoying Souparnika’s adorable performance of the song, but Simon chose to stop her, causing a gasp from the crowd. He said he “didn’t love the song,” and asked her to sing a song from The Greatest Showman that was on her list.
Souparnika took it in stride, and went on to sing “Never Enough.” The song gave her the chance to show off just how powerful her voice is, as she belted out the chorus to cheers from the audience. Both the crowd and the judges were on their feet by the end.
What Did The Judges Think Of Her Performance?
Souparnika received rave reviews from the BGT judges. “That is a mountain of a song, and you conquered it,” David Walliams said, while Alesha Dixon said she couldn’t believe Souparnika is only 10 years old.
Amanda Holden said she loved Souparnika’s “old-fashioned voice,” adding that she “hit every single note.” Meanwhile, Simon Cowell said she “absolutely nailed it,” calling her a “gutsy little thing.” She obviously received four “yes” votes from the judges.
