Simon Cowell Says Judge Cuts Will No Longer Exist On ‘America’s Got Talent’

America’s Got Talent has received it’s biggest overhaul since it’s first episode on air. The hit talent show will now see a fresh format to suit Coronavirus restrictions. Whilst planning the adapted series from his Malibu home, Simon Cowell was keen to freshen up the Judge Cuts stage of the show, with remarks pointing to a total axe of the original format.
Simon Cowell claims Judge Cuts on America’s Got Talent won’t exist anymore after major show overhaul
Simon Cowell is making some major changes to America’s Got Talent’s Judge Cuts this year due to current Coronavirus restrictions. The TV executive said in a statement that he is keen to sustain the newly formed format of the round for future seasons, claiming he was never that big of a fan of the original Judge Cuts premise.
The Judge Cuts stage of the show sees all acts given a yes during auditions, performing once again for the judges, allowing them to decide who goes through to the live shows. The stage of the show which normally saw a total of four episodes will now see a revamped single episode to follow auditions. Whilst producers were vague on what we can expect, it’s been made clear that it will be a more joyful viewing experience than ever before.
‘I could see the relief on the crew’s faces that they were back at work and then we turned around the corner to the set we’d built and it was honestly one of the most amazing experiences I can remember for a long time,’ said Cowell when describing his first day back at work on the show to Deadline.
Cowell did mention that the shortened version of the Judge Cuts segment was far more appealing, revealing that he never likened to the ‘middle rounds’: “I always felt you were way up there on the audition shows and then it felt like you dropped in energy on the middle rounds – so I was always keen to change those middle shows, they never quite felt right to me. I personally now would stick to this new way we’ve done it not just for the present but for the future. I think it is a better show this year than it has been on previous years.”
Britain’s Got Talent typically features a Judges Decision segment at the finale episode of auditions.

As for the live shows, both Britain’s Got Talent & America’s Got Talent will have little to no audience if the two shows decide to go ahead this Autumn.
