Simon Cowell Reveals His Biggest TV Nightmare On ‘America’s Got Talent’
NBC This week on America’s Got Talent, judge Howie Mandel finally hit the Golden Buzzer. The act he chose happened to be the first of its kind on AGT, and all three judges were moved by it.
This was also the first week the show taped without an audience due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was Simon Cowell’s biggest nightmare, but the show must go on. Check out the night’s best performances below.

Wildcats
This competitive cheerleading team from Texas includes members of various ages. They showed off a high-flying routine full of jumps and flips. Howie Mandel pointed out how dangerous cheerleading can be. The Wildcats earned four “yes” votes from the judges.
Jacob Velazquez
This 12-year-old pianist brought his “vision board” with him to share his dream of making it on America’s Got Talent. He started off playing the piano and then surprised the judges by playing the drums. Sofia Vergara called it “so much fun,” and Howie called him a “prodigy.” Jacob received four “yes” votes.

Michael Yo
This comedian was an E! News reporter, and has interviewed all four judges. He joked about getting older, and the judges laughed along. Simon Cowell said he loved his story, and added that he loved the audition. Michael started crying listening to the judges’ compliments. He received four “yes” votes.
Brothers Gage
These brothers play harmonica, and dream of performing at the Grammys or the Super Bowl. They performed an original instrumental song together. Sofia Vergara said she was dreading it, but ended up loving it. Simon said they were likable. The brothers got four “yes” votes.
Shevon Nieto
This former Olympic runner retired after her husband was in an accident that paralyzed him. She turned to music to get her through tough times. She performed an original song she wrote for her husband. The judges were moved by her performance, and Simon called her story “powerful.” Shevon received four “yes” votes. After her audition, she revealed that she’s pregnant!
Elijah
This young talent has been playing the cello since he was two years old, and comes from a family of musicians. He performed an instrumental version of Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings.” Sofia said she loved how much he enjoyed himself. Simon said he didn’t like the track he chose, but said he has “potential.” Elijah received four “yes” votes.
Kenadi Dodds
The rest of this 15-year-old country singer’s family has an eye disease. Her younger sister said she wants to see her on the America’s Got Talent stage before she loses her sight. Kenadi sang an original song while playing guitar. She got emotional after her audition. Simon called her “authentic.” Kenadi received four “yes” votes.
Crystal Powell
This stand-up comedienne said being on the show “changes everything.” During her audition, she joked about the differences between her black friends and white friends. Simon called her “naturally funny,” and Eric Stonestreet complimented her physicality. Crystal received four “yes” votes.

Wesley Williams
This unicyclist recently appeared on Britain’s Got Talent. He used to watch AGT with his grandmother, who encouraged him to dream big. He wowed the judges by jumping rope on one unicycle, and then juggling swords on an even higher unicycle. He finished by riding a unicycle that required a ladder to mount. Wesley received three “yes” votes.
Brandon Leake
This former English teacher has a 14-day-old daughter. Brandon is the first spoken-word artist to appear on America’s Got Talent. He performed a poem about his sister’s death. Sofia shared that her brother passed away the same year, calling his performance “beautiful.” Simon called it an “amazing tribute.” Howie Mandel was so moved, he hit the AGT Golden Buzzer for Brandon.
