A British comedian took the occasion of Simon collapsing and hurting himself to make up some fake news about Simon having died of a heart attack. It’s not funny and, of course, is not true. I don’t get why people put out fake celebrity death news. What’s the point? They are going to pop up in an hour and say “I’m not dead!” Still, it did make me think: What would the entertainment world be without Simon Cowell?
The comedian’s name is Limmy and he sent out these two tweets,
“RT @BBCBreaking Simon Cowell has died. Heart attack. #XFactor”
“RT @SkyNews Source confirms Simon Cowell has died. More to follow. #XFactor”.”
He also put the BBC and SkyNews logos to make it look official. It spread quickly and people believed it was true until it was revealed to be a hoax. But it did get me thinking about what would happen to our world if Simon died. No more X Factor or Got Talents. It’s safe to say that Simon shaped our modern TV landscape with American Idol and has gone on to even greater success with his other shows. I hope Simon takes care of himself because it will be a long time before Eric Cowell can take up his father’s mantle.
